MAYWOOD – A continued champion of prioritizing the educational needs of students, Senate Majority Leader Kimberly A. Lightford (D-Maywood) announces that a number of selected local school districts will be receiving a maintenance grant up to $50,000 for infrastructure improvements.
“If we really want to set our students up for success, we have to ensure that their learning environments are safe and up to date in order to promote academic growth and eliminate unnecessary distractions,” said Lightford.
A total of $30 million in 2022 School Maintenance Grants was distributed to districts across the state. To be eligible for the grants, applicants were required to match the state funds and commit to completing proposed projects within two years. Local school districts to receive a grant are:
- Berkeley SD 87
- Lindop SD 92
- Westchester SD 92-5
- Hillside SD 93
- Komarek SD 94
- La Grange SD 102
- Lyons Twp HSD 204
- Lagrange Area Dept Spec Ed-Ladse

“Our kids deserve secure learning environments. These grants will help provide a healthy and safe institution, but most importantly increase the quality of learning,” Lightford said.
