On May 5, Senator Kimberly Lightford met with a group of students from Westchester Middle School in the Capitol Rotunda as a part of Tech Day 2011. Tech Day is a yearly event during which students from across the state come to the Capitol in Springfield to display technology projects. The students from Westchester Middle School presented their project - a Rock Band Wiki - to Senator Lightford.

Senator Lightford welcomed Larry Piekarz and Stacy Nystrom of the Park District of Forest Park to the State Capitol on Tuesday as a part of Parks Day. Parks Day provides an opportunity for Park Districts throughout Illinois to come to the Capitol to present what they have to offer and share their views with elected representatives in the General Assembly.
